VOLUNTEER

Want to join the fun? Consider volunteering. Like many nonprofits, Attic Theatre depends on its volunteers to do a variety of tasks. There are many different ways you can get involved, regardless of your experience or the amount of time you have to volunteer. Below are descriptions of the jobs involved in producing a show.

(Some of these positions are compensated, denoted by asterisk.)

TECHNICAL STAFF &
CREW

STAGE CREW

Help move scenery, pull curtains, operate effects-there is just as much action behind the scenes as on stage! We will train, no experience needed!

SET BUILDERS & PAINTERS

Our technical staff transform our stages into new worlds, and they need volunteers to assist in building and painting our sets. Carpentry and painting skills are a plus, but not always necessary.

STAGE MANAGER*

The Stage Manager oversees the tech crew, cast management, and calls cues.

ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER

Assistant Stage Managers work with the PSM during rehearsals with administrative duties and during performance to ensure a smooth production. They are the "eyes and ears" of the PSM backstage. A great way to learn the ropes!

LIGHTING & SOUND

During the performances the light board operator runs the light cues on our computer light board and the crew guides the spotlights. The sound board operator runs a multi-channel mixing board to control music, sound effects, and microphones.

COSTUME DESIGNER*

Design the costumes for the production, sew designs if needed, handle purchases, and delegate assignments to assistants.

COSTUME CONSTRUCTION ASSISTANT

Skilled at sewing? We need you! Our Costume Designers often have large casts to costume, and need assistance sewing their designs, alterations, and repairs.

BACKSTAGE COSTUME CREW

Assist during cast quick changes, help keep costumes organized and monitor for repairs.

PROPS DESIGNER

The Props Master goes through the script and works with the Director's vision to locate or create all the items used onstage by the actors during the production. If you like hunting for unusual items like a London newspaper or 1980's rotary phone, this may be perfect for you!

PROPS CREW

Organize and keep up with all props used during the production, ensuring they are placed at the correct locations when the actors need them.

USHERS

Ushers are needed to take tickets and assist our patrons in finding their seats.

CONCESSION HELP

Assist the Concessions Manager or Board Member in set-up, concession sales before the show and during intermission, and break-down.

BOX OFFICE HELP

Volunteers assist the administrative staff with ticket sales, working the Will Call window before shows, answering phones, mailings, and other administrative projects.

COMMITTEESHIP

Attic is run by an all volunteer Board of Directors. The planning of activities, productions, events, etc. are a product of our committees. A seat on the Board is NOT required to participate on a committee. If you are interested in taking a more integral role in Attic's operations, please note Committee interest, and a Board Member will call and discuss which committee your talents are best served!
